HOMELESSNESS…this is a REAL issue, not only for adults but for TEENS!!

Published October 24, 2011 by cheffenscharmz

HOME is where the heart is or it should be, but guess what?  There are a lot of teens that do not have a place to call home–they are HOMELESS!  Teen homelessness is a huge issue in our society and a lot of people are not aware of just how serious it is.  1 in 3 homeless people in the U.S. are under the age of 18.

There is no one definition of teen homelessness. Some of the adolescents are “runaway youth,” because they purposely left an intolerable domestic situation. Other more general homeless youth can have many reasons why they are on the street. Some of the general issues are: family poverty and lack of affordable housing, teen non-acceptance, substance abuse, abusive parents, foster children coming of age, and youths of homeless adults.  Many social service providers say that it is nearly impossible to solve the problem with the homeless population, but what do you think can be done? Research this topic to answer the following questions.  Is this problem too large to solve?  What are some steps you think parents and/or teens can take to prevent this from even happening????  I am interested in your responses on this topic.  Please respond using complete sentences and re-read your posting before submitting a reply.

STEVE JOBS…a great INNOVATOR, INSPIRATION, and ICON–what will your legacy be???

Published October 10, 2011 by cheffenscharmz

Steve Jobs was a creator, innovator, and computer entrepreneur.  He changed the faced of the modern world with his technological brilliance.  He was CEO and co-founder of the Apple Corporation.  He passed away last week of cancer.  Most people did not know that while although he was a very wealthy and successful man, he also had a hard life BEFORE all the fame and fortune.  Even though he never really knew his parents, was adopted, and was a college-dropout, he was resilient.  He never allowed excuses or hardships to define his level of success.

This man will be known for years to come.  He made history and only lived to see age 56!  People around the world are mourning his loss, not only because of what he created, but because people thought he was a great person.  So, tell me using COMPLETE sentences, what type of LEGACY will you be known for?  Do you think people (family, friends, etc.) will remember you for your kindness, positivity, or perhaps a future invention?  Describe what type of LEGACY you wish to leave and what can you do while you are here to make that a REALITY?  Always remember to check your spelling and re-read your comments BEFORE you post!!
